Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries and ITTO discuss tropical forests ahead of G7 meeting

Mr Tanimura Eiji, Counselor at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries (MAFF) and Cabinet Counselor, made a courtesy visit to ITTO headquarters in Yokohama on 18 November 2022 to meet with ITTO Director of Operations Gerhard Breulmann.

The two officials discussed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the potential of tropical forests to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and to combat climate change, and the way ahead to the Group of Nations (G7) meeting, which will be held in Hiroshima, Japan, on 19–21 May 2023. Mr Tanimura indicated that the Minister of MAFF will stress the need for sustainable development in food security and forest management at the G7 meeting.
