Japan’s Forestry Agency makes courtesy call to ITTO headquarters

Japan’s Forestry Agency Director of Wood Utilization, Kojima Hiroaki, accompanied by the Deputy Director of the Wood Products Trade Office, Tabata Akiko, and the Section Chief of the Wood Products Trade Office, Sugaya Kyohei, visited ITTO headquarters on 12 April 2022.

The meeting addressed the ongoing long-standing collaboration between the two organizations; the participation of the two bodies at the upcoming XV World Forestry Congress (to be held in early May 2022 in Seoul, Republic of Korea); preparations for the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VIII), to be held in Tunisia in the second half of 2022; potential collaboration at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Egypt (also in the second half of 2022);  Japan’s Carbon Neutrality Strategy  and the Forest Agency’s Carbon Neutrality Roadmap for 2050, with a focus on the domestic consumption of wood products.
