ITTO delivers presentation at Soka University on sustainable forestry and Sustainable Development Goals

ITTO Communication and Outreach Officer Ramon Carrillo delivered a lecture on the role of sustainable tropical forest management in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at Soka University, in Hachioji, Tokyo, on 20 October 2023.

In the lecture, Mr Carrillo discussed sustainable development, highlighted major international commitments on sustainability, and illustrated how sustainable forest management in the tropics contributes to several SDGs at the national, regional and global levels. He also described recent ITTO field work on the sustainable management of teak, mangrove restoration, agroforestry, and legal and sustainable supply chains for tropical wood products. The lecture was followed by a lively question-and-answer session.

The event was attended by about 150 students, and it was reported in the Seikyo newspaper.
