The establishment of the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) was mandated in 2012 by the outcome document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), The Future We Want.

The HLPF is the main UN platform on sustainable development, and it has a central role in the global follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

ITTO provides inputs to the HLPF on the contributions of tropical forests and the tropical timber trade to the 2030 Agenda as part of its role in the Collaborative Partnership on Forests.
