ITTO to co-host upcoming symposium on deforestation-free supply chains

ITTO is partnering with the Forestry Agency of Japan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and others to host an international conference in Tokyo with the aim of scaling up efforts to halt deforestation by encouraging deforestation-free supply chains.

The International Symposium on the Promotion of Deforestation-free Global Supply Chains for Contributing to Halt Deforestation will take place on 23–24 January 2018. Among other things, it will report on the status of the commitment – made in New York in 2015 – to halt deforestation globally by 2030, and help spread good practices in the private sector in Japan and elsewhere toward the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
