Yokohama, 19 June 2025: It is with profound sadness that the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) announces the passing of Mr James Singh, former Commissioner of Forests and one of the most distinguished and dedicated leaders in the forestry sector, both nationally and internationally. Mr Singh served as Commissioner from 1999 to 2020, making him one of the longest-serving heads of the GFC. His tenure was marked by visionary leadership, institutional strengthening, and a relentless pursuit of sustainable forest management and conservation.
