Historic meeting on tropical timber, forests underway

The International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) opened its 48th session in Yokohama on Monday the 5th of November, its first meeting since a new international treaty to govern its work came into force in December 2011. Major items on the agenda of the 48th ITTC session include approval of a new strategic action plan, as well as approval of the first budget and biennial work program under the terms of the new treaty, the International Tropical Timber Agreement 2006 (ITTA 2006).
