ITTO project leads to significant new funds for Amazon forest monitoring

ITTO project RED-PD 029/09 Rev.1 (F) on ‘Monitoring deforestation, logging and land use change in the Pan Amazonian Forest – PANAMAZON II’, funded under the REDDES thematic programme and implemented by ACTO, has been instrumental in recently leveraging R$ 23 million (approx. US$ 11 million) from the Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) through the Amazon Fund to sustain and further strengthen the operation of the forest monitoring system established by the ITTO project.
