Fellowships awarded

New Fellowships awarded at the 2017 Autumn Cycle

Eighteen fellowships were awarded by the International Tropical Organization at the 53rd Session of International Tropical Timber Council.   The newest group of fellows represents 15 different producer member countries and includes 6 female fellows.  The total amount of the fellowships was US$110,810.72.

ITTO offers fellowships through the Freezailah Fellowship Fund to promote human resource development and to strengthen professional expertise in member countries in tropical forestry and related disciplines. The goal is to promote the sustainable management of tropical forests, the efficient use and processing of tropical timber, and better economic information about the international trade in tropical timber.

Ms. Noraida Abd Wahob    Ph.D. in economics research on the impacts of sustainable forest management (SFM) practices on forest certification, plantation and forest products at the Univeristy of Putra in Malaysia

Ms. Natália Girão Rodrigues de Mello    Doctoral programme in science in the Faculty of Science at Katholiek Universiteit Leuven, in Leuven, Belgium

Mr. Roy Oswaldo González Martínez    Research internship on the assessment of mortality of some tropical dry forest species due to the intensification of the drought in the Department of Chemistry and Biology at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia

Dr. Tahiana Ramananantoandro    Participation to 2018 Joint Convention Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST) and the Japan Wood Research Society  (JWRS)

Dr. Valère Kolawolé Salako    Preparation and publication of a technical guideline for estimating above-ground wood productivity, carbon and carbon dioxide stock of mangrove forests in Benin
