Dr. Manoel Sobral Filho, former Executive Director of ITTO, appointed as Director of UNFF effective from 1 September 2014

The following is an extract of an email message sent by the Secretariat of the United Nations on 28 June 2014 to all members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests:
Mr. Manoel Sobral Filho has been appointed by the Secretary-General as the Director of the United Nations Forum of Forests Secretariat, effective 1 September 2014.
Mr. Sobral Filho brings with him extensive experience on global forest issues, having previously served as the Director of Brazil's Forest Product Research Center at the National Institute of Amazonian Research, as well as Executive Director of the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO). He has demonstrated commitment to sustainable forest management, partnerships, capacity building and stakeholder engagement. His expertise will be an asset to the Secretariat at this critical juncture in the review of the International Arrangement on Forests (IAF) and further strengthen the Department of Economic and Social Affairs support to Member States and the forestry community at large.
