Towards greater transparency in the tropical timber markets

The ITTO Tropical Timber Market (TTM) Report, an output of the ITTO Market Information Service (MIS), is published in English every two weeks with the aim of improving transparency in the international tropical timber market. The TTM provides market trends and trade news from around the world, as well as indicative prices for over 400 tropical timber and added-value products.

Trade Group - ITTO is a formidable force shaping the future of tropical forest management and trade

ITTO is the world’s premier tropical timber organisation and must continue to garner support according to the Trade Advisory Group (TAG).
In a statement issued at the conclusion of the 2016 Annual Market Discussion, held as part of the International Tropical Timber Council, the TAG urged members to “close ranks and rebuild the organisation”.

Wage growth in Japan not supportive of efforts to reflate the economy

Japan suffers a very tight labour market  but wages have not been rising. Part of the explanation for this is that many more women and retirees are coming back into the workforce but are accepting lower pay compared to mid-age males.
The unemployment rate in Japan is currently around 3% but there are 1.4 vacancies for each job application..
