The ITTO Tropical Timber Market (TTM) Report, an output of the ITTO Market Information Service (MIS), is published in English every two weeks with the aim of improving transparency in the international tropical timber market. The TTM provides market trends and trade news from around the world, as well as indicative prices for over 400 tropical timber and added-value products.

CREDAI – nothing in Indian budget for real estate sector

The business community in India has generally welcomed the latest Indian budget as it focusses on improving infrastructure which will have a lasting impact on growth prospects.
However, the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) has expressed disappointment saying there is little in the budget for the real estate sector and the increase in service tax will increase the cost of buying a home.

Use a wide variety of market information sources for the best results


A survey of Chinese small and medium sized timber enterprises conducted during implementation of an ITTO project revealed where these enterprises gather market information. The results, illustrated above, are revealing in that trade fairs and the internet feature strongly.  Second ranked sources of information cluster around timber associations, buyers and other companies. 

Managers should always consider using a wide variety of sources of market information. There is a wide array of sources available and while it takes imagination and determination to locate them the rewards are bankable.
