Summary
The project will study the development of mahogany in selectively logged managed forests in Bolivia in order to identify the biological factors which determine growth rates, timber quality and other stand characteristics. The results of this study will be used in designing management practices which will enhance natural regeneration of mahogany, improve its timber quality and volume production in regenerated stands.

Computer software will be developed in which the collected biological data and relevant economic information can be combined for the evaluation of forest management options to assist in management decisions. The project will be executed in cooperation with project PD 34/88 (F), the implementation of which has been initiated and use, as far as possible, of study sites established by the project.
