Summary
This 2-year project will prepare and publish a timber description and identification handbook covering 120 tropical timber species from Ghana and other African countries. In addition to data and information related to the quantitative and qualitative macroscopic description and other physical features (density, color, odor, etc.), the handbook will include information on the species distribution, morphology, ecology, silviculture and uses. The scientific work related to the collection, identification and description of the wood samples and compilation/assessment of other technical information to be included in the handbook will be carried out by a team of wood researchers and technologists from the joint implementing agencies (FORIG and SFIT).
