Summary
The project's work provided planting material for reforestation activities in Okuome forest stands in Gabon. The project collected data on light and seedling growth in trail plots and nurseries. Natural regeneration trial plots were established, and data was collected on seed trees, site preparation, maintenance and establishment. Seed improvement and propagation activities took place through the protection of elite seed trees in forests with the help of local communities and the establishment of a seed bank in Libreville, where local personnel were trainied to maintain it. Also, trials were carried out to stimulate flowering, with little success, due to the short duration of the project.

The final report of the project was circulated as PCF(XVIII)/12 during the ITTC's twentieth session. A follow-up project proposal (PD 27/96) was submitted, under which research would continue and established plots maintained in order to develop more reliable data.
