Global Timber Index Platform GTI Report Press Conference and International Workshop on Global Timber Market Trends

ITTO in collaboration with the Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of Macao SAR, China, is conducting an activity entitled “Supporting the establishpment and operation of the Global Timber Index (GTI) platform for building legal and sustainable forest products supply chains", which aims at  facilitating business information, data exchange and collaboration among stakeholders, with a view to increase international trade in legally/sustainably produced forest products within a stable, transparent and predictable business environment.

Objectives of the event are to:

• raise the profile of productive forests and their contribution to climate change mitigation and sustainable development
• discuss challenges and opportunities in global demand and supply in wood supply chains
• discuss potential of GTI and the development of global timber industry
• encourage international trade in legal and sustainable timber and wood products
• make recommendations for the promotion of partnerships in global green wood supply chains.
