On 2 April 2026, ITTO held productive discussions aimed at expanding its cooperation with the Republic of Angola, as Mr. Cabral Laureano Neto, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan, visited the ITTO Secretariat to facilitate further growth in the ITTO–Angola partnership.

ITTO Director of Forest Management Jennifer Conje, Director of Operations Gerhard Breulmann, and Projects Manager Adje Olivier Ahimin discussed with Mr Laureano Neto on furthering Angola’s future participation at ITTO meetings and events.

Angola has been a member of the ITTO since 2023. An ongoing ITTO project in the country, financed by the Government of Japan, is working to strengthen sustainable forest management, enhance food security, grow rural livelihoods, and contribute to climate mitigation in Central Angola’s Miombo region.
