Teaching the value of tropical forests at the Yokohama Science Frontier High School

Two lecture sessions were successfully held at Yokohama Science Frontier High School on 19 March 2026, engaging 23 students in the first session and 26 students in the second, including both junior high and high school students. The presentations introduced ITTO’s work, highlighting sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, the role of forests in achieving the SDGs, and the potential of biomass as a renewable energy source.

The sessions were highly interactive, with students actively participating and posing thoughtful questions. Their strong engagement and curiosity reflected a growing interest in global environmental issues and the importance of sustainable forest management.
