ITTO to take part in GREEN × EXPO 2027 in Yokohama

On 12 March 2026, ITTO signed an official participation contract for the International Horticultural Expo 2027 (GREEN x EXPO 2027).

ITTO became the first international organization to sign an agreement with GREEN x EXPO 2027, an event that will bring domestic and international audiences together around themes of nature, greenery, and the bioeconomy.

At a signing ceremony held at the ITTO Secretariat, Executive Director Sheam Satkuru confirmed details of ITTO’s participation in the GREEN x EXPO. The Organization will energize the event through activities including an exhibition that will feature a simulated tropical forest environment, as well as forums and workshops that will educate and inspire the public, especially young people.

Ms Satkuru signed the agreement alongside Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko (Commissioner of GREEN x EXPO 2027) and Mr Komura Masato (Secretary General of GREEN x EXPO Association). Following the signing ceremony, the ITTO Executive Director answered questions from the media in attendance about ITTO’s participation in the event.

As the only international organization headquartered in Yokohama, the agreement represents ITTO’s continued commitment to engage with Yokohama City, the local community, and the wider public.

“The ITTO looks forward to bringing and sharing experiences from lush tropical forests with audiences who visit the GREEN x EXPO 2027. It is our hope that ITTO’s participation will enrich the successes of the GREEN x EXPO 2027 and leave lasting memories of this prestigious event,” said Ms Satkuru.
