On 29 January 2026, ITTO Executive Director, Ms Sheam Satkuru, met with the newly appointed Director-General of the Forestry Agency of Japan (MAFF), Mr Zentaro Kosaka. Ms Satkuru congratulated Mr Kosaka on his appointment and expressed appreciation for Japan’s and the Forestry Agency’s long-standing support for and collaboration with ITTO, particularly in project development and implementation, as well as joint participation in activities in Japan and internationally. Mr Kosaka reciprocated this appreciation, highlighting the strong and productive collaboration between the Forestry Agency and ITTO.
Discussions focused on promoting sustainable forest management and wood utilization, strengthening collaboration with Japanese government agencies and the private sector, and exploring opportunities for cooperation in upcoming national and international conferences. © ITTO
The meeting reinforced the close working relationship between ITTO and the Forestry Agency of Japan. Discussions focused on promoting sustainable forest management and wood utilization, strengthening collaboration with Japanese government agencies and the private sector, and exploring opportunities for cooperation in upcoming national and international conferences, including the Global Nature Positive Summit in Kumamoto, Japan, in July 2026, COP31 to be held in Antalya, Türkiye in November 2026, and the Green x Expo 2027 in Yokohama.
