African magazine features ITTO Congo project

24 April 2013

An article on the ITTO project “Development of marketing chains for Eucalyptus citriodora essential oils by village communities in Congo” was recently published in the magazine Marchés Africains, No.3, 2013.

The article on this project (which was funded through a grant from the Common Fund for Commodities) describes:

  • the reforestation programme in the Republic of Congo;
  • how the government of Congo got involved in the promotion of extraction of essential oils of Eucalyptus citriodora as a mean to diversify economic activities and income of forest communities; and
  • how the project has helped to modernize essential oil extraction from an artisanal process to a semi-industrial process.
