Thematic Programmes Brochure

This brochure provides a brief description of the five thematic programmes (TPs) which were approved on a pilot basis by the International Tropical Timber Council to help ITTO achieve the objectives of sustaining tropical forests and the timber trade arising from them. These five TPs, along with others that may be adopted, will become a permanent feature of ITTO’s work when a new governing treaty comes into force in 2011.

Keeping tropical forests

This brochure, produced for ITTO's display at the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi, Japan, gives an overview of ITTO and its activities and strategies.

A meeting of minds

Field practitioners recently exchanged views on the challenges of conservation in ecosystems that cross international borders. They agreed that transboundary conservation is a powerful concept, able to help protect biodiversity, reunite divided peoples, strengthen peace, protect catchments – and much more. The challenge, they said, is to make the concept work.
